Positive Approach is a welcoming community of dogs and their people.

Positive Approach is a local small business that has been in the dog training and daycare business for over 20 years. We are the #1 vet-referred training center in the Tacoma area and pride ourselves on providing a safe, well-staffed daycare floor. We invite you to come down with your furry kid and see the Positive Approach difference.

Why Board at Positive Approach?

  • Dogs are fed separately, in their own suite or kennel. We want them to feel comfortable while eating.
  • We have the same high quality security system as the Pierce County Humane Society and the Tacoma School District.
  • We clean kennel runs all day long, every day.
  • Kennel only dogs are taken outside multiple times a day for “potty breaks” to explore our yards, get some love from staff, and of course, relieve themselves.
  • Our suites and kennels have partitions. (Even the friendliest dogs can fence fight when not visually separated from their neighbors.) We want “our” dogs to feel safe.
  • All boarding areas are climate controlled.
  • All kennel dogs require the following vaccinations: distemper, parvo, bordetella, and rabies.

Rates

To qualify for kennel only boarding your dog must come in for a 5 hour, one-time Handling Assessment. This assessment is to ensure the safety of both our staff and your pup during their stay. This test can take place anytime between a 6:30 am start through a 6:30 pm end, let us know what works best for your schedule! During the assessment your dog will be walked twice; once by a male employee, once by a female employee. Lastly, they will be offered a snack out of a feeding bowl, so please bring a couple treats or some kibble for your dog to enjoy!

  •  Kennel only (over 24 hours, $4 hourly rate applies): $45 1st dog; $40 2nd dog; $35 3rd dog
  •  Stay & Play (over 24 hours, daycare rates apply): $55 1st dog; $50 2nd dog; $40 3rd dog
  • Handling Assessment: $15

Staff know the customers and dogs by name. They are so friendly and my dog, Otis, is always excited and happy to come.
Vickie R-O

Positive Approach is a home away from home for Bo. He loves to come and play with the other dogs and flirt with the staff. It provides such a peace of mind to know he is well taken care of by a great group of people!
