Positive Approach is a welcoming community of dogs and their people.

Positive Approach is a local small business that has been in the dog training and daycare business for 20 years. We are the #1 vet-referred training center in the Tacoma area and pride ourselves on providing a safe, well-staffed daycare floor. We invite you to come down with your furry kid and see the Positive Approach difference.

Why Board at Positive Approach?

  • Dogs are fed separately, in their own suite or kennel. We want them to feel comfortable while eating.
  • We have the same high quality security system as the Pierce County Humane Society and the Tacoma School District.
  • We clean kennel runs all day long, every day.
  • If your dog prefers, weather permitting, we take kennel run dogs outside for “potty” breaks during the day.
  • Our suites and kennels have partitions. (Even the friendliest dogs can fence fight when not visually separated from their neighbors.) We want “our” dogs to feel safe.
  • All boarding areas are climate controlled.
  • All kennel dogs require the following vaccinations: distemper, parvo, bordetella, lepto and rabies.

  •  Kennel only: $30 1st dog; $25 2nd dog; $15 3rd dog
  •  Stay & Play: $44 1st dog; $37.50 2nd dog; $25 3rd dog
Staff know the customers and dogs by name. They are so friendly and my dog, Otis, is always excited and happy to come.

Positive Approach is a home away from home for Bo. He loves to come and play with the other dogs and flirt with the staff. It provides such a peace of mind to know he is well taken care of by a great group of people!

Positive Approach does a great job watching and taking care of your pet. The staff is amazing, helpful and totally responsible.

5. Owner understands risks

I understand that there are risks inherent in any large group of pets interacting with each other and that even under close supervision injuries can occur. 10. In event of outdoor fence escape

I understand that Positive Approach has outdoor fenced areas for the dogs to play (small side 6' fence, big side 7' fence). I understand that if my dog climbs out of or jumps the fence at Positive Approach, Positive Approach will not be responsible for any damages physical or emotional.

11. Can dogs be intact?

All dogs must be spayed/neutered by 10 mos. of age at the latest. If we see signs that a dog is sexually maturing at an earlier age, the dog cannot return to daycare until they have been spayed/neutered. Female dogs in “heat” may not be in the building, ever.
